Sociodrama, Bibliodrama, and Drama Therapy to foster empathy, wellness, and community

Sociodrama Training

I conduct training in sociodrama, a powerful, effective method that allows its participants to creatively enact and examine issues that are common to the group. Sociodrama goes beyond theatre games and role-play and uses a specific format and techniques to clarify issues, heighten understanding, find solutions, rehearse new roles, learn new skills, and build community. Sociodrama can be used in therapy, education, training, conflict resolution or making decisions. The Sociodrama training is recognized by the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA) and may be credited toward Alternative Training or the RDT Continuing Education requirement.

In Bibliodrama participants uses their imagination to enter into a story or passage from the Bible. Staying true to the Biblical text and with guidance from the director, participants may give voice to the thoughts or feelings of the characters that the participants have imagined in the story. No acting experience is necessary just a desire to go deeper into the Biblical story. The Bibliodrama director uses techniques similar to sociodrama to guide the participants through the selected passages and to allow participants to safely express their characters’ feelings. Bibliodrama is a very rich experience for those actively participating in the Bibliodrama and those who chose to observe.

Hello! I'm Nancy Sondag

Did someone tell you that you could change the world or did you come up with that idea on your own?  Either way, I’m privileged to support you. I work with individuals and groups who have a passion to help others.  I am here to help you devise a program to meet the special needs and talents of your patients, clients, students, or organization. You will be creating a structure to promote learning, wellness, and community and your group will have a great time in the process.

Additionally, as Registered Drama Therapist/Board Certified Trainer (RDT/BCT), I mentor Alternative Training students who are pursuing their credentials from the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA). As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT), I supervise therapists who are working toward their license in New York State. I also provide therapy or coaching to individuals who need support in living their best creative lives.

I look forward to hearing from you and discussing with you how you can move forward with your vision.
